Martin Mooney - Biography View Artwork

Martin Mooney was born in Belfast 1960 where he began his studies as an artist before studying in Brighton and the Slade in London.

Mooney is renowned for his unique painting styles and is regarded as one of Irelands finest artists, to such an extent he has twice been invited as the official artist to accompany The Prince of Wales on state visits. His still life pieces are executed with the meticulous skill of 17th century Dutch masters, these take-up to 3 years to complete and contrast starkly with his beautiful plein air landscapes of dramatic Donegal and West of Ireland scenes, reminiscent of the skills of Paul Henry.

Mooney has exhibited to great acclaim all over the world and received numerous awards from institutions such as the royal Academy in London and the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin.
