Anthony Scott is an award winning sculptor originally from Sligo and his rural upbringing influences his work today. Educated in Belfast College of Art and completing a Masters in Cardiff, his medium is bronze and allows him to pursue a range of techniques in his pieces, which are in various public and high profile private collections.
Scott is inspired by the world of Celtic mythology, and his work mainly involves mythical animal figures from the Irish Sagas. Through this animal perspective Scott aims to inspire the veiwer and tell the stories of these animals, how they changed their forms and how their spirits influenced the Ancient Celtic world and their human counterparts. Scott works with wax and plaster and the final piece is cast in bronze to enhance the textures and overall effect of the work.
